Discover the grandeur of the Fedchenko Glacier, one of the world's largest non-polar glaciers, nestled in the Central Pamirs. This colossal ice giant stretches over 77 kilometers in length and spans a width varying from 1,700 to 3,100 meters, covering an impressive 992 square kilometers. Originating from the expansive ice field of Revolution Peak, standing tall at 6,974 meters, Fedchenko Glacier is a vital source for several rivers, including the Amudarya, Surkhob, Vakhsh, and Muksu.

First discovered in 1878, the full exploration of Fedchenko Glacier unfolded only in 1928 by a Soviet-German expedition led by Willi Rickmer Rickmers. Named in honor of the renowned Soviet scientist Alexei Pavlovich Fedchenko, the glacier holds a significant place in the annals of exploration. Trekking along this glacier offers mesmerizing views of Tajikistan's highest peak, Ismoil Somoni (formerly Communism Peak), towering at 7,495 meters.

At the heart of the glacier, the ice reaches a staggering depth of around 1,000 meters, moving approximately 66.8 centimeters daily. The glacier's highest point soars to 6,280 meters, while its lowest point descends to 2,900 meters. The snow line begins at an altitude of 4,650 meters, marking the start of a breathtaking icy landscape.

The raw wilderness and icy expanse of the Fedchenko Glacier are a siren call to those who dare to challenge nature's extremes. Traverse snow-covered passes above 4,000 meters and navigate fast-flowing, icy mountain rivers. This trek is tailored for those in excellent physical condition and with prior experience in glaciated mountain crossings.
